Why #WeStayedHome?
The door of our “home” will remain wide open between May 7-14… The whole world is experiencing an extraordinary period together. This is not the first time, but this time we are all running away together, trying to close ourselves off, to hide. Of course, these days will be remembered not only as times when the pandemic hurt us all regardless of who it affected, but also as times when solidarity was remembered and everyone, every institution, participated in solidarity in their own way.
“This centuries-old saying is used to demean unmarried women. This time, by saying #WeStayedHome together, we challenge male violence and all forms of masculine dominance in the home during corona days! Now we are all at home, experiencing being at home, staying at home, even demanding to stay at home together. This is a place we know well; with its smell of dust, smell of cake, sound of washing machine, children’s noise, incompatibilities, inequalities, hierarchy, violence and laughter – a place we know very well! Welcome! Now let’s experience home together again; how do we deal with the inevitable, what do we understand from living together, how do we see the interior of the home, how do we position ourselves and “others” there!
Come on, welcome, because this time we all #StayedHome together!
