**29TH FLYING BROOM INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL
FILM SUBMISSION REGULATIONS**
A) PURPOSE
The purpose of the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival is to make women filmmakers’ productions more visible, strengthen women’s spaces of expression and representation within cinema, support a rights-based and inclusive approach to filmmaking, and bring these films together with audiences.
Within the framework of its annually designated theme, the festival aims to present national and international documentary, fiction, feature-length, and short films directed by women.
B) FESTIVAL DATES
The Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival will take place in Ankara between 2–7 June 2026.
C) SUBMISSION DATES
Opening Date for Applications: 30 December 2025
Submission Deadline: 20 February 2026 (Friday, 23:59)
Applications submitted after this date will not be considered.
D) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Films submitted to the festival must have been completed after July 2025.
- At least one of the film’s directors must be a woman.
- The festival accepts:
- National and international productions
- Documentary and fiction films
- Feature-length and short films
- Previous screenings at other festivals do not disqualify a film from applying.
- The festival reserves the right to maintain thematic coherence, representational sensitivity, and program balance when selecting films.
- Films selected for the festival program are expected to hold their Ankara premiere within the framework of the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival.
E) APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Applications may only be submitted through the online application form.

Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all required information and materials are submitted completely and accurately.
Applications containing incomplete or misleading information may be disqualified.
F) EVALUATION AND SELECTION
- Films submitted to the festival will be evaluated by the program team of the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival.
- The evaluation process will take into consideration:
- The film’s artistic approach
- Narrative language
- Its relationship to the festival theme
- Its approach to the representation of women
- The festival administration is not obliged to select all submitted films.
- Selected films will be announced through the festival’s official website and communication channels.
G) SCREENING AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Technical details regarding the screening of selected films (format, subtitles, etc.) will be shared with producers and directors following the selection process.
Screening copies must be delivered to the festival administration before the festival dates.
H) GENERAL PROVISIONS
- Producers and directors submitting films to the festival are deemed to have accepted all articles contained in these regulations.
- The festival administration reserves the right to make changes to these regulations when deemed necessary.
- In matters not covered by these regulations, the authority to make decisions rests with the festival administration.
I) “EACH ONE A DIFFERENT COLOUR” COMPETITION SECTION
Each One a Different Colour is a special competition section within the festival program.
- No monetary award is granted within this category.
- The competition selection is determined by the program team of the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival.
- The winning film in this category will be selected by a three-member jury appointed by the International Federation of Film Critics.

Organisers' Bios

Alin Taşçıyan
Festival Director
Born in Istanbul in 1969, Alin Taşçıyan studied Journalism and Public Relations at Istanbul University. She began her professional career at Milliyet in 1991 and worked for many years as a film critic, reporter, and editor. She also prepared and presented film programs for television channels, particularly TRT 2, introducing audiences to hundreds of classic and contemporary films.
Since the 2000s, Taşçıyan has worked as a programmer and consultant for numerous film festivals in Türkiye and internationally. She has played an active role in the programming and curatorial processes of many festivals, including the Istanbul Film Festival, Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, Adana Golden Boll Film Festival, Malatya International Film Festival, Filmmor Women's Film Festival, and the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival. She is also a member of the European Film Academy.
Taşçıyan has held executive positions within the International Federation of Film Critics for many years, serving as president, vice president, and secretary general. She currently continues her work as part of the program team of the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival and publishes her film writing through sanatatak.com.

Ayşe Ürün Güner
Chairperson of the Board
Ayşe Ürün Güner is among the founding members of the Flying Broom Women's NGO, established in 1996. Having served in the foundation’s administration for many years, she has been the President of the Flying Broom Foundation since 23 September 2025. She has worked as a founder, executive, and coordinator on numerous projects focusing on women’s rights and gender equality.
Güner has been selected for various national and international programs and fellowships. She has participated in initiatives including the German Marshall Fund of the United States (GMF–USA), the United States Department of State LEAP–State Program, École nationale d'administration (ENA–France), the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Les Personnalités d’Avenir Program, and the European Union Visitor Programme (EUVP). She is also part of the gender equality expert pool of the Delegation of the European Union to Türkiye.
For nearly fifteen years, Güner worked as a parliamentary advisor at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye, gaining experience in legislative processes, lawmaking, and public policy. Her primary areas of work include women’s rights, gender equality, advocacy, lobbying, and political consultancy.
Dalım İlteriş Mayadağlı
Short Film Programmer and Film Traffic Coordinator
Dalım İlteriş Mayadağlı graduated from the Hacettepe University Faculty of Communication as the second-ranking student of her faculty and with high honors. She works in the fields of cinema, festival programming, and cultural production.
Currently in her fourth year with the Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival, Mayadağlı is responsible for festival coordination, film traffic, and short film programming. She has also worked as an assistant in the national feature film section of the Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival.
Mayadağlı currently works at Enki as a communications specialist and partnerships coordinator, and has participated in preliminary jury and evaluation processes at various film festivals.

Nadia Meflah
FranceNadia Meflah is a writer, critic, programmer, educator, and speaker. Working with diverse audiences, Meflah engages with a wide range of groups—from students and teachers to prisoners and people with disabilities—through screenings and discussions held in cinemas, cultural centers, and media libraries.
After serving for three years at the Cannes Critics' Week, she worked as an artistic delegate for various film festivals, focusing particularly on themes of multiculturalism and migration. She has led programming and development processes for festivals in France, Algeria, and Morocco, contributing to the circulation and visibility of cinema from the Maghreb and the Middle East.
Meflah has also developed programs for the National Museum of the History of Immigration in Paris and collaborated with Columbia University and Grinnell College. She is the director of the documentary Oum Kalthoum: Cairo's Voice (Arte, 2017) and the author of the book Chaplin and Women.
Since 2018, Meflah has served as a consultant for Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) within the framework of Aide aux Cinémas du Monde. She continues to work as a programmer at international festivals and to lead educational programs and workshops. At the core of her work lies a commitment to increasing the visibility of diverse narratives and expanding spaces of expression.

Ece Vitrinel
TürkiyeEce Vitrinel was born in Istanbul in 1981. She completed both her undergraduate and graduate studies at Galatasaray University, and received her PhD in Film and Media Studies in 2015 through a joint program between Sorbonne Nouvelle University Paris 3 and Galatasaray University. She currently serves as an associate professor at the Faculty of Communication at Galatasaray University.
Her principal fields of research include film industries, audiences and screens, and digital platforms. Since 2007, she has been a member of the pre-selection committee of the Sinepark Short Genre Film Festival.
Alongside her academic work, Vitrinel writes on cinema and culture for BirGün Pazar and The Art Newspaper Türkiye.

Omnia Adel
EgyptOmnia Adel is an Egyptian film critic, a board member of the Egyptian Film Critics Association (EFCA), and a member of the Cinema Professions Syndicate. She currently serves as editor-in-chief of El Film Magazine.
Adel works as a programmer for the Aswan International Women Film Festival and is also involved in the viewing and selection committees of the Cairo International Film Festival, Ismailia International Film Festival, and Alexandria Mediterranean Countries Film Festival, while additionally serving as a catalog editor for these festivals.
Her writings have been published in outlets including FilmBuff, Raseef22, and El-Manassa, among others. She is the author of the book The Hidden Path of Filmmakers (مسيرة صناع السينما الخفية) and is currently working on her second book, El-Moqawalat, focusing on the commercial era of Egyptian cinema.
In addition to her critical and editorial work, Adel is also involved in film production and has participated in various screenplay workshops with a short film project she has been developing.
