After Uçan Süpürge established its own website in 2000, one of the most important needs it identified was the creation of an independent women’s communication network. Uçan Süpürge found women in their own cities who would write news from a women’s perspective and with gender equality sensitivity, and connected them with local partners. This project, which initially started in 13 provinces, later expanded to many provinces across Turkey. Women without journalism experience brought the women’s agenda of their own cities to Turkey’s national agenda through news published on Uçan Süpürge’s website.
