**29th FLYING BROOM INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S FILM FESTIVAL FILM SUBMISSION REGULATIONS*

 

A) PURPOSE

The aim of the 29th Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival is to increase the visibility of women filmmakers’ productions, to strengthen women’s spaces of expression and representation within the field of cinema, to support a rights-based and inclusive cinematic approach, and to bring these films together with audiences.

 

Each year, within the framework of a determined theme, the festival aims to present national and international documentary and fiction films—both feature-length and short films—directed by women.

 

B) FESTIVAL DATES

The Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival will take place in Ankara between 2–7 June 2026.

 

C) SUBMISSION DATES

  • Submission Opening Date: 30 December 2025
  • Submission Deadline: 20 February 2026 (Friday, 23:59)
  • Submissions received after this date will not be considered.

 

D) ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  1. Films submitted to the festival must have been completed after July 2025.
  2. At least one of the film’s directors must be a woman.
  3. The festival programme accepts:
  • National and international films
  • Documentary and fiction films
  • Feature-length and short films

    4.Films that have previously been screened at other festivals are eligible to apply.
    5.The festival reserves the right to consider thematic coherence, representation sensitivity, and overall programme balance when evaluating submissions.

 

E) SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

  1. Submissions are accepted only via the online application form.

3.Applicants are responsible for ensuring that all required information and documents are submitted in full.
4.Incomplete or misleading submissions may be excluded from evaluation.

F) EVALUATION AND SELECTION

  1. Films submitted to the festival are evaluated by the Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival programming team.
  2. The evaluation process takes into account:
  • The film’s artistic approach
  • Narrative language
  • Relationship to the festival theme
  • Approach to the representation of women

    3.The festival management is not obliged to select all submitted films.
    4.Selected films will be announced via the festival’s official website and communication channels.

 

G) SCREENING AND TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Technical details of selected films (format, subtitles, etc.) will be communicated to the producers and directors after the selection process.
  2. Screening copies must be delivered to the festival management prior to the festival dates.

 

H) GENERAL PROVISIONS

  1. Producers and directors submitting films to the festival are deemed to have ac cepted all provisions of these regulations.
  2. The festival management reserves the right to make amendments to these regulations when deemed necessary.
  3. In matters not specified in these regulations, decision-making authority rests with the festival management.

 

I) “EACH HAS A DIFFRENT COLOUR” COMPETITION CATEGORY

  1.  Each Has a Diffrent Colour  is a special competition category within the festival.
  2. No monetary prize is awarded in this category.
  3. The competition selection is determined by the Flying Broom International Women’s Film Festival programming team.
  4. The winning film in this category is selected by a three-member jury appointed by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).
